Long before the hashtag #eventprofs emerged, academic venues have always been true events professionals, offering an environment for learning, networking and knowledge transfer. This year, our friends at Conference News are organising The Academic Venue Awards to celebrate the successes and contribution of UK's top academic venues. The 1st edition of the AVAs will take place in The Great Hall at Queen Mary University Of London on Nov 22, 2017.

Project director Kirk Thomas says: “The level of investment from academic institutions into their events offerings, including facilities, technology and event management, has driven competition and resulted in academic venues offering some of the top event spaces in the country.”

Award Categories

There are 14 awards now open for nominations, including Best Accessibility, Best Exhibition Space and Best In-house Technology. The term ‘Academic Venues’ refers to universities, schools, colleges, libraries, science parks, technical & commercial training venues, royal societies and royal colleges. If you're wondering whether or not your venue is an academic venue, check out the eligibility requirements here or email your queries to the organisers at ava@mashmedia.net, just note that the entry deadline is September 29, 2017.
